Frontpage extensions needed?

I heard that Microsoft is replacing Frontpage with Expression web. Does a web site built with Expression need Frontpage extensions installed on the server?

Microsoft built Expression Web as a standards-based authoring tool so websites created with Expression Web will not need to have FrontPage extensions installed on the server.
